Description
A black matcha bowl whose rim seems covered with sea foam.
Its deep black glaze is topped with a blue and white glaze that flows down from the rim in fine streaks. This contrast between shadow and light evokes the sea foaming on a dark rock, and sets off the green of the matcha.
This chawan has a tall, straight shape that leaves room to whisk the tea with a chasen.
It comes from Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, one of the great historic centres of Japanese ceramics.
For preparing and drinking matcha. Made in Japan.
