Description
Two large ramen bowls covered with a network of blue stars.
The asanoha pattern covers the bowls inside and out: six-pointed stars that interlock, drawn in a fine blue line on a white background. A dark brown rim edges the top, and a blue line marks the white foot.
These stars represent the hemp leaf, a symbol of growth and good health in Japan. It is a pattern also found in sashiko embroidery.
At 19.7 cm in diameter and 10 cm high, these are real ramen bowls, deep enough for the broth and toppings.
They come from Hasami, in Nagasaki Prefecture, one of the great centres of everyday Japanese porcelain.
For ramen, udon, soba or big soups. Made in Japan.
