Large Japanese Seigaiha deep plates – Set of 2

Two large plates where blue waves stretch from one edge to the other.

The whole inside is covered with the seigaiha pattern, drawn in blue on a white background: overlapping arcs, row after row, like fish scales. A wide black rim frames the decoration and gives it real presence.

Seigaiha means "waves of the blue sea". These endlessly repeated arcs depict a calm sea stretching to infinity, and symbolise peace and continuity in Japan.

The plates are wide and deep, with a raised rim. At 29 cm in diameter and 6 cm high, they hold a generous dish.

The drawing of the waves varies slightly from one piece to another: it looks as if it had been traced by hand.

For pasta, curry, a large salad or a sharing dish. Made in Japan.
