Description
Blue waves curling all the way up: a large mug full of movement.
The body of the mug is covered in stylised waves drawn in white lines on a blue background, their crests curling into scrolls. The drawing recalls the waves of Japanese prints, where the sea is depicted with strength and elegance.
The base remains raw, brick-coloured clay, which makes the mug look as if it stands on a plinth. The straight handle, lined with a discreet brown, offers a firm grip, and the rim flares slightly towards the top for comfortable drinking.
At 13 cm high with a capacity of 400 ml, it suits large teas, coffees or hot chocolates. In Japan, these large handled mugs are also used for beer.
In Japan, a country surrounded by the sea, the wave is a pattern very present in the decorative arts. It evokes the strength of nature and perpetual movement.
