Large Japanese Mug, Blue and Green Fans

A large midnight blue mug, covered in blue and green fans.

On a midnight blue background, open fans in blue and aqua green overlap all the way up the mug, drawn in fine lines. The dense, rhythmic decoration keeps a lovely lightness.

In Japan, the folding fan is an auspicious motif: its shape, which widens as it opens, evokes a future that opens up and prosperity that grows. It appears on kimonos, festive objects and tableware.

The base is left as raw clay and the straight handle is outlined in grey. At 13 cm high and 400 ml, this mug suits large teas, coffees or hot chocolates.

It is part of the shop’s series of large 400 ml mugs, available in several patterns in the same size: enough to choose one for each member of the family, or to build a collection.
