Japanese Small Dishes, Indigo Blue Koi Carp – Set of 6

Six small indigo blue dishes, each decorated with a koi carp.

On a deep indigo blue background, a koi carp stands out in the centre of each dish. The contrast between the dark blue and the light fish gives the decoration great clarity, even at such a small size.

In Japan, the koi carp is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. It is also associated with perseverance, in memory of the legends in which it swims up waterfalls against the current. It appears in gardens, on kimonos and on tableware.

Their flat, compact size, 9.9 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm high, makes them lovely dishes for sauce, condiments or small bites. They slip easily next to each plate.

The set of six lets you place one in front of each guest. They go with the shop’s indigo blue koi carp salad bowls.
