Description
Two blue and white salad bowls: one covered in small dotted checks, the other crossed by a brushstroke.
The first is covered inside with a fine blue grid forming small white squares, each marked with a blue dot in its centre. The second, white, is marked on the outside with a broad blue stroke, like a brushstroke.
A dark brown line edges both pieces. The contrast between the tight pattern of one and the simplicity of the other creates a balanced pair.
At 20.5 cm in diameter and 8 cm high, they suit salads, pasta, noodles or dishes to share.
They come from Hasami, in Nagasaki Prefecture, one of Japan’s main centres for everyday porcelain. They go with the set of salad bowls with the asanoha pattern from the same series.
