Description
A flared fine porcelain mug, covered in coral pink asanoha stars.
A fine network of coral pink lines draws six-pointed stars over the whole surface, outside as well as under the inner rim. The very fine decoration remains light and delicate.
Asanoha, literally “hemp leaf”, is a traditional Japanese pattern made of interlocking six-pointed stars. Because hemp grows straight and fast, the pattern is associated with growth and good health; it was once found on children’s clothing.
The fine porcelain makes the mug particularly light in the hand. At 8.5 cm in diameter and 9.5 cm high, it suits tea, coffee or herbal tea.
It comes from a family workshop in the Mino region, where the pieces are thrown on the wheel and then finished by hand.
