Description
Fine stems running down from the rim to the foot, like hanging vines.
The decoration is made of vertical blue lines, almost parallel, dotted with small buds grouped in threes and tiny leaves. It leaves plenty of room for the slightly greyish white background, and the whole has something calm about it, very Japanese in its restraint.
The wall is crossed by fine horizontal ridges that intersect the vertical stems. Depending on the light, they create a slight relief and make the mug pleasant to touch.
The shape is straight, the handle nicely round. The inside is a grey with a hint of green, and a brown line edges the rim and handle. At the bottom, the bare brown clay forms a small pedestal.
The mug is shaped in a mould, then finished by hand; the decoration is applied with transfer paper, which creates small differences from one piece to another.
A restrained decoration that recalls the attention paid in Japan to plants and the passing seasons. For tea, coffee or an infusion. Also available in a larger size. Made in Japan, in the Mino region.
