Japanese cream saucer with a blue heart

A small saucer with a deep blue heart.

Its cream glaze, speckled with green and brown, surrounds a bright blue centre, like water at the bottom of a stone basin. The contrast between the mineral rim and the coloured heart gives it great character.

Its low, flared shape rests on a pronounced foot.

It comes from the Toki-Tajimi region, Gifu Prefecture, home of Mino ceramics.

For side dishes, sauces, a small treat or under a teacup. Made in Japan.
