Description
Two salad bowls that play on the contrast between inside and outside.
Inside, the ajiro pattern covers the whole surface with a fine blue weave. Outside, white dominates, simply crossed by a wide blue brushstroke. A fine brown rim edges the top.
Ajiro imitates the bamboo weaving used in Japan for baskets and the ceilings of traditional houses.
Their shape is wide and flared, on a small foot. At 20.5 cm in diameter and 8 cm high, they hold a salad or a dish to share.
They come from Hasami, in Nagasaki Prefecture, one of the great centres of everyday Japanese porcelain.
For salads, noodles or sharing dishes. Made in Japan.
