Description
A small flared cup in very thin porcelain, covered in dotted circles, in blue or brown.
Small dots draw overlapping circles over the whole wall, outside as well as inside. The shape is wide and flared, set on a small foot.
This decoration is called nami, “wave” in Japanese: the circles evoke ripples on water, a motif dear to Japanese art.
Its eggshell porcelain, thin and slightly translucent, feels very delicate in the hand. At 9 cm in diameter and 4.5 cm high, it suits green tea, sake, small dessert portions or sauces.
Take both colours for a tea set for two.
