Small Japanese Bowls, Nami Waves – Set of 4

Four small bowls covered in blue waves with curling crests, on a raw clay foot.

The waves, drawn in fine white lines on a blue background, curl all around the bowl and echo from one piece to the next. The drawing, full of movement, gives the impression that the sea is circling the table.

The inside stays light, slightly greyish, and a brown line highlights the rim. The foot, left as raw clay, adds a warm note that contrasts with the blue.

Nami means wave in Japanese. The wave is one of the most frequent patterns in Japanese art, a reminder of the archipelago’s close bond with the sea.

At 11.4 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm high, they are perfect for rice, miso soup, side dishes, sauces or a dessert.
