Japanese Sake Cups, Oribe and Kiseto – Box of 5

Five small sake cups, five different glazes, presented in a wooden box.

Each cup has its own character: a soft creamy white, an orange-brown crossed by a dark stroke, a deep green with glaze runs, a light beige, a straw yellow speckled with brown. The slightly irregular shapes sit well in the hand.

The set is inspired by two styles of Japanese ceramics. Oribe is recognisable by its deep green glaze, and Kiseto, “yellow Seto”, by its straw yellow tones. Both were born in the Mino region at the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century.

With a capacity of about 50 ml, these cups are for sake, hot or cold, but also for tea or a digestif.
