Bols japonais Yugen Lab en porcelaine bleu et blanc aux motifs graphiques différents
Description

Five blue and white bowls, each decorated with a different Japanese graphic pattern.

Six-pointed stars, checks, fine vertical lines, lattice and crosshatching: each bowl carries its own blue pattern on a white background. The inside stays white, edged with a thin blue line, and the unglazed foot is the colour of the clay.

Several classic patterns can be recognised: asanoha, the “hemp leaf” star, associated with growth and good health; ichimatsu, the checkerboard, whose endless repetition evokes continuity and prosperity; and tokusa, inspired by the straight stems of horsetail.

At 11.5 cm in diameter and 6.2 cm high, they are suited to rice, miso soup, side dishes or desserts.

They come from Hasami, in Nagasaki Prefecture, one of Japan’s main centres for everyday porcelain. With one pattern per bowl, everyone can recognise their own.
