Description
Three bowls that hide a blue swell inside.
The inside is covered with the indigo blue seigaiha pattern: concentric arcs lined up like an endless swell. The outside, white speckled with blue, remains more understated. A dark rim edges the top.
Seigaiha means "waves of the blue sea". In Japan, this pattern symbolises peace and continuity.
The bowls are round, on a small foot. At 17.9 cm in diameter and 9 cm high, they are large enough for soup or noodles.
They come from the Toki-Tajimi region, Gifu Prefecture, home of Mino ceramics.
For soup, noodles or rice. Made in Japan.
