Japanese Indigo Blue Koi Carp Bowls – Set of 6

Six indigo blue bowls, where red and white koi carp swim.

Against a deep indigo blue background, koi carp stand out in red and white, as if gliding beneath the surface of the water. Their curved bodies give the decoration plenty of movement.

In Japan, the koi carp is a symbol of perseverance and prosperity. A legend tells of a carp that swam up a waterfall against the current and was turned into a dragon as a reward for its courage. It appears on Children’s Day banners, on kimonos and on tableware.

At 14.5 cm in diameter and 7.5 cm high, these bowls suit rice, miso soup, side dishes or desserts.

They complete the koi salad bowls, plates, small dishes and serving dishes of the same collection, to make up a full set.
