Description
An almost black salad bowl whose rim seems to have been dipped in blue-green foam.
The body is covered with a black-brown tenmoku glaze, deep and glossy inside. The whole upper part is wrapped in a wide blue-green band, speckled with beige, which starts at the rim and stretches down the sides in irregular drips. The same band edges the inside, around a luminous black centre.
Tenmoku is a dark, iron-rich glaze. Born around tea bowls, it has become one of the great classics of Japanese ceramics.
The shape is wide and flared, on a small foot. At 21.4 cm in diameter and 8.2 cm high, it is large enough for a salad or a bowl of ramen.
The glaze runs freely: the length of the drips and the intensity of the green change from one bowl to another.
It goes with the Tenmoku Shinoragashi bowl of the same range. For salads, ramen or noodles. Made in Japan.
