Japanese Teacups, Blue Plum Blossoms – Set of 5

Five teacups covered in blue plum blossoms, set on a golden-brown base.

Flowers with five round petals, in several shades of blue with pink hearts, crowd along fine branches on a white background. A brown line outlines the rim.

The plum tree, ume, is the first tree to blossom at the end of winter in Japan, sometimes still under the snow. Its flower symbolises perseverance and renewal.

Handleless, like everyday Japanese teacups (yunomi), they measure 8.2 cm in height and 7 cm in diameter. The unglazed bottom takes on a golden-brown tint.

A complete set to serve tea for five, or to give as a gift as spring approaches.
