Description
A small rectangular plate with raised edges, covered in the indigo blue tako karakusa pattern.
On a slightly bluish white background, broad indigo blue scrolls curl across the whole surface. The four corners rise gently, which holds sauces and garnishes in place.
This decoration is called tako karakusa. Karakusa refers to a pattern of curling plant tendrils, and tako means octopus: the small leaves lining the tendrils recall its suckers. Dense and rhythmic, it is one of the most iconic patterns of Japanese tableware.
Designed to present a few pieces of sushi or maki, it also suits starters, small desserts, cheese or appetisers.
It matches the shop’s other tako karakusa pieces for a blue and white set.
