Japanese Salad Bowls, Indigo Koi Carp – Set of 3

Three indigo blue salad bowls where koi carp swim: a set that brings movement to the table.

Against a deep indigo background, koi carp stand out in lighter tones, as if gliding just beneath the surface of the water. Their curved bodies and spread fins give the decoration a sense of continuous movement from one edge to the other.

In Japan, the koi carp is a symbol of perseverance and prosperity. Legend has it that a carp swam up a waterfall against the current and was turned into a dragon as a reward for its courage. It appears on the banners of Children’s Day, on kimonos and on tableware.

At 21.5 cm in diameter and 8 cm high, these bowls work as well for a mixed salad as for noodles, stir-fried vegetables or a selection of dishes to share. The three pieces can be served together in the middle of the table or separately, depending on the meal.

They are part of the shop’s koi collection, with bowls, plates and small dishes in the same decoration, to build a complete set.
