Description
A fine porcelain cup, covered in flowers and scrolls, in blue or coral.
On a white background, flowers and curling stems cover the whole outer wall, in indigo blue or coral depending on the model. The inside is white, and the fine porcelain makes the cup light in the hand.
Its name, Hirokomon, evokes komon, the small repeated pattern of Japanese kimonos, drawn here on a larger scale.
In everyday use, it is simply a handleless cup for tea or coffee. In Japan, this shape also serves as a soba choko, the cup in which soba noodles are dipped in their sauce. At 8.2 cm in diameter and 6.8 cm high, it can also hold a small dessert.
Take both colours for a tea set for two.
