Furoshiki is a Japanese art designating the act of wrapping and decorating gifts or everyday objects in order to give them or transport them. The method consists of using pieces of fabric, very often square in shape, and folding or tying it in order to wrap the object. Several folding techniques are used to adapt to all shapes of objects. There are different materials: silk, cotton, nylon, etc. Formerly widely used in Japan, Furoshiki is making a comeback by offering a more ecological and nicer way of wrapping your gifts.
On the Made in Japan store, you will also find small, ultra-resistant Japanese bags and clutches handcrafted by our master Japanese craftsmen. The patterns, colors and materials used in the design of these Japanese bags and pouches totally reflect Japanese culture.
