Japanese blue pattern deep plates – Set of 2

Two deep plates in white porcelain, to choose from two blue patterns.

Diamonds: a fine blue lattice of diamonds, each marked with a dot in the centre. This regular pattern, inspired by Japanese textiles, gives the plates a graphic, timeless look.

Ajiro: a criss-cross pattern that imitates the bamboo weaving used in Japan for baskets and the ceilings of traditional houses.

In both cases, the decoration covers the whole inside and a dark rim edges the plate. At 21.5 cm in diameter and 5 cm high, these are versatile deep plates.

They come from Hasami, in Nagasaki Prefecture, one of the great centres of everyday Japanese porcelain.
